World Environment Day Program in Kunar Province
(16 Jawza 1403 / 5 June 2024 – Asadabad, Kunar Province, Afghanistan)
On June 5, 2024 (16th of Jawza 1403, Solar Hijri Calendar), the Climate and Environment Coordination Platform (CECOP) organized a remarkable program in Asadabad, the capital of Kunar Province, in commemoration of World Environment Day.
The event was attended by professors and students of Kunar’s Syed Jamaluddin Afghan University, members of forest conservation committees, community elders, and respected leaders from different districts of the province.
The program began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Throughout the session, participants received informative and engaging presentations on climate change, its impacts on the world and Afghanistan, a comprehensive overview of Afghanistan’s forests (importance, challenges, and solutions), the role of forests in disaster prevention, forest protection strategies, and the significance of World Environment Day.
More than 100 people attended the gathering. Following the presentations, participants engaged in open discussions and group work. The program concluded with prayers.
