Today is World Environment Day – a significant occasion that reminds us of our shared responsibility to protect the environment. This year, the day is celebrated under the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution.” On this occasion, an impactful educational program was held on June 2 in Pul e Khumri, Baghlan Province.

The program was organized by the Climate and Environment Coordination Platform (CECOP) in collaboration with the Liaison Office (TLO). Participants from universities, environmental activists, Forest Management Associations (FMAs), and other stakeholders came together to enhance their understanding of climate change and its impacts in Baghlan. The event aimed to raise awareness and encourage collective action for environmental protection.

Special information was shared about plastic pollution, highlighting its severe threats to the environment, wildlife, and human health. As a practical step towards reducing plastic use, cloth bags were distributed among participants to promote sustainable alternatives.

Plastic pollution is one of today’s greatest environmental challenges, contaminating land and water, harming living organisms, and fueling the climate crisis. Tackling it requires collective awareness and cooperation from everyone.
