world nature conservation day celebration
The increasing population and the rapid development of technology have threatened life on earth. Deforestation to create residential areas and excessive use of natural resources by humans have led to global warming, destruction of wildlife habitats, and water and air pollution.
Therefore, The Liaison Office (TLO) and the Environment and Natural Resources Monitoring Network, in cooperation with the National Environmental Protection Agency, celebrated World Nature Conservation Day at the Queen’s Palace in Babar Garden on 28 July 2022. The event was aimed to raise the public’s awareness of nature and the environment, including forests and natural resources, and to create an opportunity for relevant institutions, experts, and environmental activists to discuss the country’s trending ecological problems, such as water and air pollution, lack of green space, and other issues related to nature. Officials from the governmental institutions, National Environmental Protection Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, Kabul University professors and students, environmental organizations and activists, and private sector representatives participated in the event. During the event, informative and scientific presentations were given by university professors and the National Environmental Protection Agency about the importance of this day and the sustainable use of natural resources. The event ended with a panel discussion by experts where experts and audiences discussed trending environmental problems.
