Awareness Program on Plastic Pollution and it’s solutions

The Liaison office and Environment and Natural Resources Monitoring Network organized a one-day awareness program titled “Plastic Pollution and its Solution” on June 7th, 2023, in Balkh Province, Mazar City.

The awareness program was aimed at enhancing the knowledge of the participants, who were university students, lecturers, environmentalists, social activists, representatives of NGOs, and provincial officials. The event focused on World Environment Day 2023’s theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution.”

Academic and informative presentations on environmental pollution, plastic pollution and its harm, and plastic debris and water resources were delivered to the participants during the event. The participants also participated in group work, where they shared their experiences and suggested solutions to lead us to a less plastic society.

Plastic pollution is a growing environmental concern that affects our oceans, wildlife, and human health. Every year, millions of tons of plastic waste are produced, much of which ends up in our waterways and oceans, harming marine life and ecosystems. Plastic pollution also poses a threat to human health, as plastics can release toxic chemicals when they break down. We should work to beat plastic pollution by reducing our use of single-use plastics, recycling, and properly disposing of plastic waste. By taking action to address this issue, we can help protect our planet and create a healthier future for ourselves and future generations.
